Read More...Mary MacKillop is reasonably strict on uniform. Boys are to keep shirts tucked in and have the correct socks. Girls are to have plain hair, single ear rings and no nail varnish. The question to struggle with is what is the educational value of uniform? Certainly a key factor is safety. With all students easily identified, it is much easier to spot interlopers - a common problem in schools without uniform. However doesn't the same argument apply to teachers, perhaps we should bring back the gowns and trenchers.
Some learning is counterproductive. The key is to draw the learner into understanding.
